Gilcom has had an active involvement in promoting internationally based standards for Commercial Premises Telecommunications Cabling in New Zealand since the deregulation of telecommunications in New Zealand

Murray Gillespie, Gilcom's Managing Director, was a former Chairman of the NZ Standards Committee SC605, WG2 and member of the Joint AS/NZS committee Integrated Cabling Systems for Commercial Premises at the time the first issue of AS/NZS was introduced

• Another important milestone for the company was gaining ATSP (Accredited Telecommunications Service Provider) accreditation at the time that TESSO introduced this into the New Zealand Market in 1999

• Companies that have ATSP accreditation have been recognised by the Telecommunications Skills and Standards Organisation (TESSO), a division of ETITO, as employing appropriately qualified and competent staff committed to the use of agreed codes of work practices and standards

• TESSO is an incorporated society working for the benefit of the Telecommunications Industry. They are the only body dedicated solely to creating occupational standards as a base for the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA) qualification framework. Gilcom is a member of TESSO
